A long haul trip out to York, Newcastle and Carlisle taking in a number of different trains. First up to York to see the 86/7s on a GBRf private charter from Newcastle to London. Then on to Newcastle to take a trip on the National Express diversions to Carlisle. While at Carlisle we got 56312 and Steam 5690 "Leander" on charters. Then back to Newcastle and Huddersfield via a trip to Sunderland which turned out to be a bad idea as Sunderland FC had been playing at home and their match had just finished.

A trip round the Oldham Loop for the last time. I am unable to make the final day so this was my own final fairwell. I started the day with a trip to Glossop to complete that line before moving onto the Oldham Loop. I stopped off at Oldham Mumps for a few pictures.

A railtour to Scotland with DRS 37069 and 20302. Visits to Mallaig and Oban via an over night stop in Fort William. Problems with the 20 delayed the trip to Mallaig but we got there

A fantastic open day held at Carnforth by the West Coast Railway Company. The display of locos was brilliant with Steam, Diesel and Electric all in attendance. The high light was the display of newly restored 46115 "Scots Guardsman" in BR Green. The loco looked fantastic and is full credit to the people that have helped to restore the loco back into this condition. WCRC, DRS and EWS all had locos on display ranging from 20s to 66s. A number of preservation groups attended with 55022, 40145 and 86259.

A collection of pictures showing the progress of the Welsh Highland railway extension through Porthmadog The extension is to connect the Welsh Highland railway with the Ffestiniog railway through the centre of Porthmadog. The new line passes over the National rail line via flat crossing (we didn’t have time to view the crossing) before heading into the centre of Porthmadog along a section of street running before joining up with the Ffestiniog railway at Porthmadog station.

A collection of pictures taken while on Pathfinders "The Snowdonian" railtour from Preston to Pwhelli. This was the first Deltic to travel over the line and 55022 performed faultlessly all day. We travelled only to Porthmadog where we wanted to see the progress of the Welsh Highland Line extension, There us a seperatre collection with these pictures. The return working was at times slightly late due to the late running of the service trains we where booked to pass. A great day had by all.

A weekend spent at Barrow Hill for there diesel gala which this year focused on the 50th anniversary of the class 20. Over 20 of the class where in attendance including 20168 at Hope with main line tours heading there and back on both days

An event I had been waiting for since January. An open day at the main depot of my favourite freight operating company. DRS held an open day at their Kingmoor depot with a sellection of their operational fleet on show. Highlights of the event included the nameing of 20311 "Class 20 "fifty"" and 37667 "Kingmoor TMD". Also on show was 57011, the first of the class to be givern the new DRS livery. A charter train ran using the newly referbished MK3 coaches that DRS had purchased earlier in the year. This was headed by 66411 and 66405 with 47501 on the rear to provide ETS.

Trains of a smaller size. A trip to the Kirklees Light Railway who where celebrating there 10th anniversary of the opening to Shelly station. All 4 steam locos where in action with a number of double headers and top n tail workings. The line runs on the once standard gauge line that ran from Huddersfield to Clayton West. The current line running from Clayton West to Shelly. All line side feachers are there for a lot bigger then the current trains. The line also boasts the longest tunnel on any narrow gauge line in this country.

A fantastic day spent at the Midland Railway Centre for the Class 20 Locomotive Societys Chopperfest event in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Class 20. 8 of the class where in action as well as 31108 as this year also marks the introduction of the Brush Type 2 (Class 31). All thanks go to the CTLS for a great day which was topped off with a quintuple-headed (5 locos) train.

Headed out to see Pathfinders "Guild and Docker" Railtour. The train was top n tailed by 37416 and 60042. Pics are taken at Farington Curve Junction, Strand Road Crossing and the Swing bridge leading to the Ribble Steam Railway.

A trip to Preston Station with information that two convoys were to be heading through during the day. They were heading to Crewe for the open day from the NRM at York. The first convoy arrived at 13.10 with NRMs Flying Scotsman providing the power. It was hauling FM Rails Peak 45112, NRMs Western D1023, Scotsman's support coach and WCRCs 47854 on the back. The second arrived at 15.20 with WCRCs Oulton Hall providing the power. It was hauling NRMs Duchess of Hamilton and six WCRC MK 1 coaches. Both convoys stopped at the station for about half an hour to top up on water before continuing on to Crewe.

The Branch Line Societies tour to Preston Docks. The first passenger train to travel down the full branch in its 150 year history. The tour was top n tailed by 66009 and 66103. The tour is pictured at Farrington Curve Junction, Strand Road level crossing and returning to Preston station double-headed up the 1 in 29 incline!
